Tipperary Public Buildings win major Public Sector Fit Out Awards
Two new public buildings based in Tipperary Town were the recent recipients of two major construction awards, the Public Sector Fit Out Public Project of the Year 2013 Award and the Fit Out Sustainability Achievement Award 2013. The Public Sector Fit Out Public Project of the Year Award was achieved for the Fit Out of Tipperary Civic Campus Development, which comprised the fit out of two new buildings for the Department of Justice and Equality and Tipperary Town Council on a design and build basis.
These awards were presented at the construction and design sector Fit Out Awards 2013 held in the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, Burlington Road, Dublin on Thursday, 14 November 2013.
The Gala Dinner, hosted by Risteard Cooper of RTE’s Après Match, attracted 450 representatives from across Ireland, who came together to celebrate the best the industry has to offer. With 18 categories and 105 submissions in the awards, there was plenty to celebrate on the night.
The companies responsible for receiving these much coveted awards were the long established and innovative Galway based construction company, Stewart in partnership with leading Dublin based architects, Coady Partnership Architects (CPA). Stewart and Coady won the Fit Out Sustainability Achievement Award 2013 for delivering sustainable fit outs to benchmark Standards such as BREEAM and LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) which consists of a suite of rating systems for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings, homes and neighbourhoods. Both Stewart and Coady are known for their innovation in Design and Build Solutions. Stewart, founded in 1902, is still owned and managed by the Stewart family and is one of the few 4th generation family businesses in Ireland. Operating nationwide in all sectors, its clients include ALDI for whom it has delivered 51 of its 100+ stores to include the recently completed Aldi in Tipperary Town which involved a face lift to the town’s clock tower.
Due to the increase in construction activity, the company has recently opened an office in Dublin to service additional contracts won nationwide by both its main contracting division and its specialist fit out contracting division, Stewart Interiors.
Creating quality workplace environments is core to the work of Dublin based Coady Partnership Architects. These awards confirm Coady Partnership as architects who make a difference. The practice is currently working with US based TPG Architecture LLC to deliver expanded headquarters facilities for a leading, multi-national pharmaceuticals company in Dublin.
Winning these awards for Stewart and Coady Partnership Architects is further recognition of the excellence both companies have achieved in their work for the construction industry.
And for Tipperary Town, the addition of these award winning offices promoted by the Office of Public Works within the wider programme of decentralisation has clearly established the town as a centre of local and national government.
